The first week of art classes were kicked off with a mix of art room procedures and routines along with some creative time. Mrs. Veal has a project for the art room this year. All grades will be participating in making a mural! The mural is based off the book "Only One You" by Linda Kranz. Each student will create a small piece of art emphasizing individuality and uniqueness. All of the unique pieces will come together in a large mural in the shape of a Elmwood paw print. We're all very excited about this and started right away! We read the book, did some brainstorming and also starting thinking about ourselves and uniqueness by making a puzzle piece. All grades discussed visual reading and how you can discover so much by looking at pictures. They discovered a lot about me and my likes by visually reading my puzzle piece such as I love the outdoors, traveling, winter time, and many more! Next it was their turn to start their own puzzle pieces. We will hopefully finish up the puzzle pieces during week two and move onto our grade level projects along with completing the mural! A lot going on in the art room already! How exciting!?
